Dream Come True
Our dreams, hopes, and ambitions make us special as humans. These can be as modest as playing trumpet with the local band, or as elaborate as a hot air balloon ride! They are as unique and varied as our tenants themselves.
We get to know each tenant deeply as a vibrant individual, we learn what dreams spark joy in their lives -- and we make them happen!
A name is drawn each month to do one thing that you have always wanted to do that you have not yet accomplished. Only rule being the dream has to be realistic and within reason.
Our goal is to make at least one tenant's dream come true each month!
Below are some of the dreams we have made come true:
Roy Smith had his own private airplane and would fly it himself. His dream was to fly in an airplane again!
Leona Hutton's dream was to ride on a train and eat lobster for the first time. She rode on a train at Boone & Scenic Valley Railroad & Museum and enjoyed lobster at the Red Lobster in Ames, Iowa. Catherine Shelton Schroeder (our host on the train) bought Leona a puzzle as she loves to do puzzles. Thank you, Catherine, for helping to make our tenants' day special!
Marilyn Hanna's dream was to attend a Hawkeye Women's Basketball game. She attended an Iowa Hawkeye Women's Basketball vs. Nebraska at Carver Hawkeye Arena on January 27.This was VERY special to Marilyn as she cried happy tears several times. We want to give a huge thank you to Denise and Rick Sieck for making this Dream go smoothly!
In February, Dorothy Foreman went to Windy Goat Acres located in Chelsea, IA. BKRY 146 also helped made this dream possible with their cute llamma cupcakes. Thank you both to Windy Goat Acres and BKRY 146 for helping make Dorothy's Dare to Dream day possible!
On April 30th, another 'Dream Come True' was presented to our tenant Gerald Krumrie! Gerald went fishing for Muskies with Steve Jonesi Fishing as a tour guide at Pleasant Creek State Recreation Area in Palo, Iowa. Gerald has hunted and fished about everything that is living on this planet, but has never caught a Muskie! Afterward, he went and ate at Whiskey River Grill in Palo, Iowa.
We want to give a huge thank you to Steve Jonesi Fishing, Pleasant Creek State Recreation Area in Palo, Iowa, and Whiskey River Grill in Palo, Iowa.
Our tenant, Betty Sheffert, got to check one of her dreams off her bucket list when she rode in a hot air balloon. Thanks to the help of Team FlyinKOAT and their 'pilot' Jeremy King, Betty's dream came true. After the hot air balloon ride, Betty enjoyed breakfast at Crouse Cafe in Indianola, Iowa.
