At Birkwood Village of Fort Madison, our specialized 13-bed cardiopulmonary and ventilator care unit is designed to provide highly personalized care for individuals who are ventilator-dependent or working toward ventilator weaning.
Because we are a smaller, focused unit, we’re able to deliver a level of individualized attention that larger programs often cannot. Each resident receives a customized care plan based on their medical needs, personal goals, and daily routines. Our size allows us to adjust quickly, communicate closely with families, and maintain a consistent, supportive care environment.
Our unit is staffed with experienced Registered Respiratory Therapists and nurses onsite 24/7, along with primary medical providers who are present in the facility throughout the week for regular rounds and ongoing assessments. This interdisciplinary approach supports continuity of care, safety, and high-quality cardiopulmonary management.
